Counseling works to solve current problems and change unhelpful thinking and behavior. We are “problem focused” (undertaken for specific problems) and “action-oriented” (therapist tries to assist the client in selecting specific strategies to help address those problems), and can be directive in its therapeutic approach. Counseling will be tailored to fit the unique needs and situation of each client.
Each of our counselors has extensive experience working in a variety of settings and has an enormous amount of skill in helping adults, families, children, and adolescents find the solutions they need. Psychotherapy can be helpful in treating a variety of problems such as – ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Autism, Protracted Grief, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Family Problems, and many more concerns.
Individual therapy is a one-to-one interaction between client and a counselor. Individual therapy is the most common form of treatment, allowing a person to have a counselors’ undivided attention.
People seek out therapy for many different reasons including life changes, losses, mental injury, or to treat a particular disorder such as anxiety or depression. Our therapists may use techniques from one or a variety of theoretical orientations depending on therapeutic need, and the age of the client.
